Karlsruhe Institute of Technology is an academic research and education institution that attracts scientists and students from around the world. The IT staff in the institute's Steinbuch Centre for Computing (SCC) supports 26,000 users. Deploying and managing applications was time consuming and tedious, and the help desk was burdened by a tremendous amount of application-related issues. By using Microsoft Application Virtualization, SCC reduced the time needed to provision applications by 60 percent and simplified application management - from deployments and updates to upgrades and removals. SCC also enabled applications to be user-based so that employees and students could access their software from any computer.
