The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is the second largest public health system in the nation, providing health care to the counties 10 million residents. The staff at LA County DHS decided to evaluate Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) as an option for monitoring and blocking malicious traffic targeting its branch locations. As a healthcare organization, LA County DHS must be online and operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This means that any product deployed in the network must not be disruptive or cause outages. LA County DHS evaluated IPS solutions from three different vendors, including TippingPoint, evaluating them for network performance, security accuracy and management. Following the evaluation, the organization decided to deploy several IPS units from TippingPoint throughout the network.
