Super Group owns supply chain management businesses in Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The South Africa - based holding company wanted to cut IT costs while creating a reliable infrastructure that could easily scale up or down to accommodate businesses that it acquires and sells. It had used VMware technology but found it too expensive for a large-scale implementation. After switching to the Windows Server 2008 Datacenter operating system with Hyper-V technology, and to several Microsoft System Center products, Super Group has decreased licensing and data center costs, reduced physical servers by 90 percent, and cut the time needed to provision servers from three weeks to just 10 minutes.
