The auto maker has a logistics partner network that spans Europe. The company employs approximately 12,000 people in its European design, research and development, manufacturing, logistics, and sales and marketing operations. The auto maker wanted to improve processes with partners and enable dealers across Europe to order and update inventory online. To do this, it needed to replace a tightly coupled integration platform and open up its core applications. Partners and dealers needed to access core mainframe applications that supported sales, supply-chain planning, manufacturing, logistics and distribution, and warranty management. Mahindra Satyam proposed a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) based solution. The solution would provide ready access to both legacy applications and relational databases.
