Based in North Italy, Mascioni S.p.A is a fabric finishing companies that uses a LANSA-based multilingual customer service web solution. This solution allows customers to order raw fabrics, view and select print patterns and colors, and follow work in progress. They can also look at real-time inventory and find details on the shipping information. Apart from cutting costs, one major requirement of the company was to improve services and save costs with their double shift customer service department so that they could cater to both American and European time zones. For this they also engaged a multilingual staff. For meet their requirements, SIDIM was able to build a custom-made working eBusiness prototype with LANSA in a matter of two days. SIDIM trained the developers at Mascioni in less than a week in LANSA. The web project started immediately and movement from RPG to LANSA was simple. The solution was called Mascioni on your Desk and was specific to needs of the textile industry. The web solution was started in September 2000 and continues to change towards improvement with constant feedback received from customers. This was a customer service solution that the company created so that it was different from the traditional catalogue and order entry solution. Mascioni provides an ERP extension that provides extensive logistic and technical information. The information is based on reuse of validations and logic of Mascioni's core ERP system.
