Medical Care Provider Improves Treatment for Dialysis Patients With Central Database
Fresenius Medical Care is the largest provider of dialysis services in the world. To improve the quality of care, the company collects the medical information of its European dialysis patient population in a central database called European Clinical Database (EuCliD). Currently EuCliD has been implemented in 270 of Fresenius Medical Care's dialysis units, in 15 European countries. Because the aging system could no longer handle the daily updates and the data volume, Fresenius Medical Care migrated to a new version, EuCliD 5, based on Microsoft.NET Framework and the Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008. The solution relies on a scalable Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database that allows data input from mobile devices.
