Latvia's Ministry of Education (MoE) wanted to report effectively on schools' performance, reduce teacher workloads, and deliver e-learning opportunities for students. To achieve these goals, the organisation worked with technology partner Datorzinibu Centrs to deploy an IT solution based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006. MoE employees can now report on performance quickly and easily, and communicate with key education stakeholders in real time. Teachers can set assignments, grade students' work, and record results automatically, delivering administrative time savings of 30 per cent. Students can also view and work on their assignments from any Internet-connected computer, and parents can track their progress online.
