Mizuho Securities Asia Limited is an arm of Mizuho Financial Group based in Hong Kong. Mizuho Securities' mission is to expand the Group's securities business to all of Asia. Earlier regression testing was carried out manually, with five or more employees engaged per test. Manual testing used up valuable time and this process slowed down business responsiveness. To cope up with constantly changing business needs Mizuho knew that they must be able to develop, test and deploy applications rapidly, develop products for more and more markets, and also with more functions. Each time a new function was added, the entire application required regression testing again. When Mizuho Securities learned about Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, they were immediately interested because of new testing features such as Coded UI Test and Test Manager 2010's features to automate regression testing and manage test cases. They were also attracted to the full integration of the testing platform with Team Foundation Server 2010. The company started a proof of concept in late 2009 and over the space of two months Microsoft helped them to deploy the system. With that they have achieved faster testing times, increased productivity and the ability to automate regression. The collaboration between tester and developer is heightened and it in turn has led to improved application quality.
