National Police Force Improves Efficiency, Cuts Costs With Unified Communications
The Colombian National Police enforces local and national laws in the Republic of Colombia, South America. The 150,000 police officers who work for the organization operate in a range of locales, from busy urban streets to isolated jungle villages. Many of these officers had challenges communicating with each other because they relied on inconsistent cell phone signals and an unreliable push-to-talk in-car radio system. Recently, the organization implemented Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unified Messaging. With the new solution, officers in remote locations reach other employees faster and all users work more productively. The police force expects to save thousands of dollars a year in phone and hardware costs.
