This case study details how the Office of the Board of Studies (OBOS), New South Wales (NSW) in Australia, which is the certifying authority that takes care of syllabus content materials, non-government school registrations and high school examination delivery in NSW, has been able to improve its IT infrastructure with the help of LANSA's development and integration tools. OBOS has been working in collaboration with LANSA since year 1989 and LANSA's technology has been at the heart of its IT infrastructure. The paper goes on to explain how LANSA has assisted the board recently in the development and delivery of a new onscreen marking application. This application is a part of OBOS's eAssessment program. Such onscreen marking enables the markers to view and mark the scanned images of students' exam sheets, or the responses spoken or entered online. The paper also quotes Mitra Bhar, who is the IT Manager at the OBOS. In his/her opinion it is significant that OBOS continues to find out how new advancements in technologies can facilitate improvements in their assessment and examination programs. Further, the IBM i platform and LANSA's technology has helped OBOS NSW in providing highly reliable, secure and precise solutions to meet and exceed the expectations of their core business.
