Bancorp was running out of datacenter power and cooling capacity. The bank was rebuilding one server per week on average to address hardware issues and failures; this was time-consuming and resource-intensive, backups were taking too long and becoming increasingly difficult to schedule and management of the servers was increasingly time-consuming and costly. They chose VMware to overcome these challenges. VMware vSphere virtualization allowed the bank to consolidate its servers and improve their manageability. The bank was able to increase its IT organization's capacity, recovery times decreased by 80 percent, and datacenter power costs decreased by 40 percent. The cost of adding new virtual servers is 70 percent less than the cost of adding new physical servers and disaster-recovery costs decreased by 50 percent.
