Robinson Manufacturing Company is a US provider of basic and fashion boxer underwear, loungewear and activewear. Serving both, retail and wholesale markets, Robinson uses Visual LANSA to redevelop its core applications. The company has also engaged LANSA to provide a web portal to vendors so that they have access to manipulating data, create shipments, and print case labels - all of this done securely. Established in 1972, Robinson Manufacturing has corporate and sales offices, distribution centers, manufacturing and cutting plants in Tennessee. The first two LANSA modules developed by the company included a Work Order system and a Plant Management system. These were followed by Robinson's first web application - the Vendor Shipment Management System (VSMS) that gives suppliers real-time access to purchase orders. It also allows them to create and maintain shipments, shipping dates and cases. Other LANSA-developed applications being used by Robinsons' include report management, time-and-attendance, finished goods and a garments specification system. Master files that are important to the company come with history time stamps. These are triggered by field level changes so the system can keep a log of the changes made to a record. Most of the forms from the company come with a history button that is in built with the form so that any modifications made to the record are available to end users. The system is also able to answer a number of questions that would otherwise have to be dealt with by the IT team.
