Spir-IT - the government agency that provides IT services for the Dutch court system - sought to replace the courts' aging and heterogeneous IT infrastructure with a modern one that would be easier to manage and would support advanced communication and collaboration services. The agency also wanted to support a flexible, efficient, mobile work environment known as the New World of Work. To address these goals, Spir-IT launched the Future Judiciary project, which includes upgrading hardware, standardizing all client computers on Windows 7 Enterprise, and deploying other core Microsoft software. Now, the agency has up to 90 percent fewer priority-one IT system problems, and workers report improved satisfaction and productivity.
