Stein Mart is a publicly traded department store and off-price retailer with 267 locations in over 30 states. Stein Mart changed its supply chain model from vendor direct-to-store shipments, drastically reducing vendor shipping costs. However, Stein Mart needed to eliminate its reliance on its legacy File Transfer Protocol (FTP) system for moving files, such as purchase orders and stock keeping units. The process was consistently unreliable, lacked delivery guarantees and had limited error recovery. To improve file transfer reliability, Stein Mart is completely replacing its legacy FTP delivery method with IBM WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition software. Currently fully integrated in all of its 267 stores, Stein Mart is leveraging the IBM solution as the core file transfer technology for the enterprise.
