A global electronics company, along with Mahindra Satyam, undertook development and migration of Gentran EDI Maps. This was done with the Gentran application to Gentran Integration Suite 4.2. The electronics company wanted to replace the old Gentran platform and associated applications to be able to measure up to SOX compliance. The requirement became more intense because of the fact that Sterling Commerce was unable to support the earlier version of the GIS product. The Sterling Commerce Gentran application currently offers mapping and file transfer services for many sales companies and business units in Europe. The company was faced with a number of business challenges such as attaining operational excellence along with cost reduction by outsourcing EAI & B2B application support; enabling seamless integration so that they are able to meet IT needs across major business segments; and facilitating heavy multi-site data exchange across countries. Mahindra Satyam was brought in to provide L1 & L2 EAI support along with application development and Gentran migration. They were also meant to provide L3-product enhancement and code fixes along with change requests; EAI assessment using the Gentran Integration Suite platform; and enhancements with the GIS-SAP integration/interfaces to improve change management processes. The solutions from Mahindra Satyam made the client's system accessible from multiple locations and provided a centralized repository for GIS B2B data solutions. This reduced duplication of transactional messages, while saving time, money and effort.
