Bouygues Telecom wanted to improve collaboration among its employees, who are dispersed across many locations. The company's open source unified communications solution didn't integrate well with existing applications, so Bouygues replaced it with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007. With real-time presence information, employees now can instantly find people, check their availability, and decide the best way to contact them. Bouygues is also deploying the solution's voice over IP features to 3,000 employees. The solution is fully integrated with Microsoft e-mail and calendaring software, so employees can use their PCs or desk phones to manage incoming and outgoing messages, including instant messages. Bouygues Telecom now has an integrated communications solution that has improved productivity and reduced travel and will easily expand with the company's growth.
