To better support high availability, strengthen data protection and disaster recovery capabilities, and reduce hardware costs, Telecom Italia has aggressively pursued virtualization. Recently, IT leaders sought to increase the mobility of virtual machines to meet rising demand among internal business units and customers for scalable compute resources. After evaluating enhancements to the Hyper-V virtualization feature and other advances in Windows Server 2012, the company decided to participate in the Microsoft Rapid Deployment Program for the technology. Telecom Italia has already benefited from more straightforward configuration and deployment of cloud infrastructure and faster, easier migration of virtual workloads.
