Executive Summary

The College of New Rochelle (CNR) established in 1904, is one of the premier institutions for higher education in the state of New York. With more than 6000 students and 7 campuses, the institution is a popular choice for students who want quality education with financial aid. One of the main challenges faced by the administration of the college was management of the data pertaining to admission process, financial aid and general student information. Because of the un-integrated and outdated systems, the process of data consolidation became a nightmare. They found their perfect solution in the College Administrative Processing System (CAPS) by LANSA in partnership with DB Systems. The CAPS was originally developed with RPG and COBOL and had integrated internal admin module and AS/400 sites. The DB Systems redeveloped the system to offer integration to the outside world and a higher quality of user interface. Today, the improved CAPS is a one stop solution for educational institutes for end-to-end management of student information. The system allows all wings of administration to have ready access to complete information regarding recruitment and student application, which has drastically reduced the processing time of financial aids applications. This college has received great reviews from the CNR administrative staff regarding simplification of their processes as well as for enabling them to save thousands of dollars in interest due to the reduced application processing time.
