Executive Summary

The Ohio Supercomputer Center had been relying on a number of High-Performance Computing (HPC) solutions to serve its customers. Unfortunately, these systems had become outdated. The organization wanted to reassert its position as an HPC leader, so the Ohio Supercomputer Center began looking for a more powerful supercomputing environment. The center wanted to enhance its existing HPC environments, the Ohio Supercomputer Center chose an IBM System Cluster 1350 solution to act as the heart of its consolidated supercomputing infrastructure. The solution, built with AMD-powered IBM BladeCenter and IBM System x hardware, provides the organization with more than 22TFLOPS of processing power as well as the ability to intricately configure memory and processor resources to accommodate unique customer requests.
