The Ottawa Hospital wanted to support a Ministry of Finance initiative to introduce e-commerce to the healthcare supply chain to drive greater efficiency and enhance quality of care and expedite and improve the accuracy of purchasing processes with major medical and surgical supply vendors. The challenge was to improve visibility into spend to identify errors, consolidate purchasing, and optimize terms and supplier relationships. The challenge was to free staff members from time-consuming manual procurement tasks to focus on valuable initiatives. The Ottawa Hospital implemented Oracle E-Business Suite applications to automate the hospital's supply chain across six sites.
