The client who is a Software developer was looking for a way to automate software builds while working in Microsoft Visual Studio and the Microsoft .NET Framework, but the client found existing XML-based build tools inflexible and hard to scale for some of his larger projects. The client used IronRuby - the Microsoft-based implementation of Ruby for the .NET environment - to take advantage of the intelligence and versatility of Ruby, allowing software builds to be specified in a way that was easier to understand and more scalable. IronRuby helps connect the open-source and Microsoft development communities, making it easier for Ruby developers to use the enterprise-class capabilities of the .NET Framework, while giving .NET developers access to a powerful programming language.
