Tufts Health Plan's legacy document management system did not have a Web-based, central content repository and could not integrate with various Tufts Health Plan databases. It also lacked other critical functionality, such as comprehensive search, version control, and security features. Additionally, Tufts Health Plan had to rely on its Information Systems (IS) group to manage and manually publish information in its document management system, which hampered the company's ability to distribute information in a timely fashion and lead to duplicate content circulating among numerous departments. After evaluating a number of software solutions, Tufts Health Plan selected Oracle Universal Content Management as its new document management system.
