The leading mobile communications provider in Turkey, Turkcell needed to upgrade its infrastructure to accommodate growing data volumes generated by customers using Smartphones and tablet PCs after the launch of 3G services. Turkcell decided to support the growth in data usage by investing in Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter with Hyper-V. This gives the firm a highly cost-effective alternative hypervisor solution to its incumbent virtualization solution platform. Up to 400 virtual machines - one third of the total at Turkcell - have now been provisioned with Hyper-V for existing Windows-based servers with the help of HP and Microsoft Partner ADEO IT Consulting Services. The firm has also decided that all new Windows-based servers will be provisioned with Hyper-V.
