University at Albany Reduces Storage Costs and Expedites Virtualization With NetApp

The University at Albany-SUNY (UAlbany) is an internationally recognized public research institution with nearly 18,000 students. They need to migrate from a distributed storage infrastructure to a more efficient, consolidated storage environment to keep pace with growing storage needs. (UAlbany) chose NetApp to overcome these challenge. They deployed NetApp FAS3160 clustered storage systems in the university's primary and secondary data centers. The results of deploying NetApp FAS3160 were reduced storage footprint by 43%, decreased data center energy costs by 8%, reduced storage power and cooling costs by 75% and reduced VMware storage space by 66%.
