With the aim to develop the Lithuanian business community by providing the most up-to-date management training possible ISM University of Management and Economics was founded in 1999. The University provided e-mail accounts to all students, but the storage space was limited to 100 megabytes per user so it didn't take long for mailboxes to reach maximum capacity. But soon it was realized that their e-mail services were not reliable as messages bounced back without getting to their destinations. Therefore, the management decided to upgrade its e-mail service and started looking for a solution that would integrate with its existing system and provide the students with collaboration space, bigger mailboxes, and services that would meet the expectations of a generation familiar with social networking applications, such as Facebook. This case study reveals the solution to this problem, the search to which ended with Microsoft Live@edu e-mail solution. As applications from Microsoft were already being used by the University, it was decided that it was best to use Microsoft Live@edu e-mail solution as it would comply with University needs. This new e-mail server offered many benefits to both the institution and the students, as it provided e-mail access to students at anytime from anywhere with an Internet connection; opened new channels of communication; offered more features for less money; and is easy to use as it was based on familiar interface.
