University Reduces Application Update Time and Improves Stability With Virtualization
Renowned for exceptional academic programs, Indiana University serves more than 100,000 students a year. The university's Auxiliary Information Technology (AIT) Infrastructure department has five staff who supports 1,100 desktop computers. With a complex application deployment process that often took more than a month and resulted in installation failures, AIT needed an easier, faster, and more reliable way to support application delivery. By using Microsoft Application Virtualization, AIT reduced application update time by more than 90 percent and eliminated the need to test applications for compatibility, while enabling it to deploy updates on an as-needed basis instead of once every several months.
