Weber Automotive Drives Its SAP Software With Linux on POWER

The automotive industry depends on streamlined production processes, and requires its suppliers to deliver the right components at the right time. To meet these business challenges, Weber Automotive GmbH needs a highly available and responsive IT infrastructure to govern production processes - but its existing environment was underperforming, preventing the company from meeting business goals. Weber Automotive migrated its SAP software environment from a number of ageing Intel-based servers to just three IBM System p5 550Q servers, running 64-bit Linux and MaxDB. The company also installed a SAN based around an IBM System Storage DS4700, and is using IBM Tivoli System Automation to provide high availability.
