WOMAD: Outdoor Wi-Fi

"Co-founded by music legend, Peter Gabriel, WOMAD is a series of festivals held around the world. Their challenges are to centralized management and administration, Wi-Fi coverage for 250- acres of outdoor land with fewest number of APs, ability for Wi-Fi solutions to automatically adapt to RF interference, obstacles, high-gain receivers to provide wired Ethernet into temporary buildings and easy to manage, easy to change, low cost. They chose Ruckus to overcome these challenges. They have implemented Ruckus 18 ZoneFlex dual-band 802.11n Smart Wi-Fi access points and ZoneDirector Smart WLAN controller. The results of implementing Ruckus were resilient mesh connections ensure high availability, complete coverage of festival grounds, signal penetration inside the buildings and lower cost than previous system with better coverage, performance and management."
