Combine the versatility of XML and JavaScript to create an adaptable quiz application

Follow the creation and evolution of a JavaScript-based quiz application as a developer satisfies the specified requirements for a client-side-only solution.

Developing applications based on the requirements specified by your clients often requires a certain amount of ingenuity and imagination. This download walks you through one developer's creative process as he creates a quiz application using JavaScript and XML components. After analyzing the client's specifications, you can follow along with the Gregg Griffiths as he lays the foundation for and then builds an application that will quiz users, present and score the results, and send those results by e-mail to specified individuals. The download includes the JavaScript code and an example XML file that you can use to base you own quizzing application on.

Although the application satisfied the client's requirements, Greg is contemplating several enhancements, including:

  • Adding the ability for the user to select a question set and then have that set loaded
  • Allowing the user to 'Save' their position and restart at a later point
  • Adding in Picture/Video questions
  • Adding in Audio questions
Greg is also looking for suggestions from you. What additional features would you add to this application? Can you suggest a different approach then the one he chose?
