For high performance DB2 applications, it is important not only to understand how DB2 is optimizing its access to the data but also how well the presenter is using indexes. Because the presenter spends a lot of time building and maintaining indexes, it is important to use them wisely. Filtering as much as possible, as soon as possible, is key to achieving high performance, and the more one can filter via the indexes the better. In this session, the presenter will discuss index design issues and query performance topics, including best use of index matching predicates and index screening. The presenter will also describe how to influence DB2 to use particular indexes.
