One of the most distinct characteristics of the Internet is how quickly and fluidly it evolves, how technology originally designed for research and collaboration today powers millions of lives, both real and virtual. As the Internet has evolved, so have threats to its legitimate users. 2008 was no different, and as described last year's report, the author have reached a tipping point, where any modern Internet user, from a child at home to the network engineers of multinational corporations, must rethink what they consider important when securing their assets. Cyber terrorism is also evolving. Most experts believe that there will be a cyber terrorist attack in the future, but it will most likely be on the front end or back end of a physical attack.
