The rapid development of broadband wireless applications is driving new solutions for high-throughput, bandwidth-efficient, and reliable communications in wireless fading environments. Among the possible candidates, Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology is considered the main stream for the next-generation broadband wireless systems due to its inherent benefits of multipath immunity and spatial diversity. Although MIMO OFDM systems can achieve better reliability and higher capacity, the power consumption also increases because of the extended complexity for the multi-stream processing.
