A Bandwidth Allocation Algorithm for Video Distributions in Vehicular Networks
Wireless communications and mobile computing technologies enable the interactions between vehicles and Internet by supporting many safety/non-safety applications. Especially, mobile multimedia applications are prevalent in vehicular networks, and video distribution from service provider to vehicles is a promising method to enrich mobile users' entertainment. However, whether this approach can provide satisfactory Satisfaction Level is a fundamental problem to be studied. The authors introduce a new performance metric called Satisfaction Level (SL) for video services. With SL, they focus on optimizing video distributions among multiple vehicles by addressing the Video Distributions Problem (VD) with the objective being to maximize the Average SL (ASL) of all users through BS bandwidth allocation.
