A Comprehensive Study of Spectrum Sensing Techniques in Cognitive Radio
The electromagnetic spectrum is a natural scarce resource. Radio transmission involves the use of part of the electromagnetic spectrum. Use of spectrum is regulated by government agencies such as Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States. Cognitive radio provides solution to the spectrum scarcity problem. Spectrum sensing for CR is an extremely well researched topic. The biggest challenge related to spectrum sensing is in developing sensing techniques which are able to detect very weak primary user signals while being sufficiently fast and low cost to implement.
