A Countermeasure for Black Hole Attack in Mobile WiMAX Networks
Mobile WiMAX has drawn much attention due to its benefits. Nevertheless, security is a challenge and has to be ensured. The attacker may make use of parts of unencrypted management messages and acquire information about the type of traffic, nodes involved, timing and so on. This paper discusses about the attacks prevalent in mobile WiMAX and a prediction mechanism to foreknow the prevalence of black hole attack, an attack in the network layer. This mechanism eliminates the vindictive nodes and provides better results in terms of Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), throughput, control and total overheads.
