A Cross-Layer Design for Downlink Scheduling of Multi-User MIMO Systems with Zero-Forcing Beamforming
In this paper the authors present a cross-layer resource scheduling design for multi-user MIMO system employing Opportunistic Fair Scheduling (OFS) and Zero Forcing Beam-forming (ZFB), and develop a user grouping method on the base of this design. Given a particular group of users and their channel conditions, the optimal beam-forming scheme can be calculated. The multiuser resource scheduling problem then refers to the selection of the optimal group of users for transmission at each time instant to maximize the total throughput of the system. The simulation result shows that the performance of resource scheduling algorithm based on user grouping method proposed in this paper is close to the optimal performance which used exhaustion method.
