Executive Summary

Recently, the attentions to Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems have increased significantly due to their increased performance. MIMO became a frequently used technique in both wireless (e.g. 802.11n, 802.16e) and wireline (e.g. Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL) with a bundle of twisted wire pairs, Gigabit Ethernet) communication scenarios. In such systems Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI) and Inter-Carrier Interference (ICI) corrupts the transmitted data thus reduce the achievable bit-rate and decrease performance. To overcome these impairments channel equalization is frequently used in the literature. Generally, advanced signal processing techniques to overcome the channel impairments are called channel equalization and there are two types of equalization, linear and nonlinear.
