Executive Summary

Recent advances in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have made them extremely useful in various applications. WSNs are susceptible to attack, because they are cheap, small devices and are deployed in open and unprotected environments. In this paper, the authors propose an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) created in Cluster-based Wireless Sensor Networks (CWSNs). According to the capability of Cluster Head (CH) is better than other Sensor Nodes (SNs) in CWSN. Therefore, a Hybrid Intrusion Detection System (HIDS) is designed in this paper. The CH is used to detect intruders that not only decreases the consumption of energy, but also efficiently reduces the amount of information in the entire network. However, the lifetime of network can be prolonged by the proposed HIDS.
