Recently, it has been found that the asymptotic behavior of an infinite queue fed with different arrival processes that all exhibit the Long-Range Dependence (LRD) property can be vastly different. Thus, it is insufficient to consider only the correlation structure of the input process for accurate performance prediction. It has been found that the marginal distribution and the finite range of time scales of the arrival process must be also considered, as well as the correlation structure. Especially, the time scale associated with a queueing system is a function of the maximum buffer size.
