A Novel Analytical Model for IEEE802.11e WLANs With 3-D Markov Chain
IEEE 802.11e is specified to provide prioritized Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee in Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). A comprehensive investigation of the performance of Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) for WLANs is reported in this paper. Most of the previous related paper is based on saturation condition which is not quite realistic. Consequently, the authors build a novel markov chain model for EDCA under unsaturation traffic loads, taking the idle state into account. Furthermore, most features of the EDCA such as virtual collisions, different Arbitration Inter-Frame Space (AIFS) and different Contention Window (CW) have been mainly developed respectively in current literature.
