A Novel Approach for Blocking Artifact Reduction in JPEG Compressed Images
Image coding or compression has played a significant role in the successful transmission and reception of digital communications and multimedia. Compression of digital images has gained a tremendous importance in telecommunication .In fact data storage and transmission is becoming an issue. Image compression plays an essential role in minimizing the data size and reduction in transmission costs. Many coding techniques have been developed, but the most effective is the JPEG compression used for continuous tone still images. However, the reconstructed images from JPEG compression produce noticeable image degradations near block boundaries called blocking artifact, particularly in highly compressed images.
