A Novel Approach to Edge Detection Using Wavelet Transform and Fuzzy Rules
Edge detection is one of the preprocessing steps in image processing and computer vision applications, particularly in the area of object segmentation. It plays a vital role in image analysis and it is a key of solving many complex problems. Despite many existing traditional edge operators, which are based on convolution operation resulting in considerable losses, efficient way of edge detection named multi resolution transform based Fuzzy edge detection is proposed in this paper. This paper derives the advantages of both the wavelet transform and fuzzy logic to preserve and predict the correct edges. Finally, the results of proposed methodology are compared with that of canny edge detector.
