It is important to understand project management-specific competency models as provided by major professional bodies that focus on the assessment of behavioral competences as a way of identifying underlying capabilities and potentials. This paper introduces approaches to project management profiling and makes recommendations on how one can get the best value from an investment in profiling. In this study behavioral characteristics and personality traits are analyzed. For example, in the face of extremely challenging environments high-performing project managers exhibited integrity and toughness to see it through even when faced with malign political pressures.
