They have strong views on the advent of newer technologies like ZigBee, which actually doesn't provide the environment needed for faster application software development. The need for portable interacting computing devices is opening up further challenges for providing reasonable and reliable data transfer. The ZigBee Protocol was designed by several experts who work in different multi-national companies. They together formed a consortium called ZigBee Alliance. The main aim of ZigBee was to provide low rates of exchange, low power consumption, high security measures and so on and so forth. They created the ZigBee network which works with three devices, namely the coordinator, the router and the end device. Each has got its varied functions and the paper illustrates this with examples supporting each of the device's functions. The paper also compares ZigBee protocol with various other protocols that are more recent and hence offer more functionality. There is a readable table comparing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB, Wibree, Z-Wave and EnOcean. The paper then moves on to examine the design and implementations needed to improve the functionality of ZigBee and comes up with three options for the same.
