Web usage mining focuses on techniques that could predict user behavior while the user interacts with the Web. It tries to make sense of the data generated by the Web surfer's sessions or behaviors. There is an attempt to provide an overview of the state of the art in the research of web usage mining, while discussing the most relevant tools available in the sphere as well as the niche requirements that the current variety of tools lack. It will give an outlook on the existing tools, their specialized focus with respect to an applicative objectives and the need for a more comprehensive new entrant in this sphere in the light of the current scenario.
