A Survey on CF Method, PTS Approach, Companding Technique and Time Domain Methods for PAPR Reduction in OFDM Systems

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is widely used modulation technique in wireless communication systems due to its ability to transmit high data rates over multipath and frequency selective fading radio channels effectively. But a large Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) causes significant performance degradation due to the non linear effects of power amplifier; hence reduction of PAPR is mandatory in the design of OFDM systems. This paper presents a survey on the Clipping and Filtering (CF) Method, Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS) approach, Companding Technique (CT) and time domain methods to reduce the PAPR of an OFDM signal.
