A Survey: Optimization of TCP Performance in Wireless Networks
Wireless networks are growing rapidly in the past few years, and so attracting many researchers. Hand-off, roaming, routing, congestion, Medium Access Control (MAC), Transport Control Protocol (TCP), extended IP addressing are few research issues in wireless networks. In which, performance of TCP is much important for efficient data transfer. In wired network, the traditional TCP with flow control algorithm provides error-free data transfer. In wireless network, frequent and random mobility of wireless nodes will lead to data loss and reduces performances of TCP. Therefore, two kinds of TCP are proposes by the authors; Extended TCP and New TCP. In which the Extended TCP is the modification of traditional wired TCP for wireless requirements and the new TCP is Framed entirely differ from traditional wired TCP.
