Executive Summary

Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs), within which nodes can move arbitrarily, is a self-configuring network without infrastructure. The trust mechanism for MANETs had been proposed as a promising methodology to handle the complex security problems. This paper starts with the concepts of trust mechanism existing in the MANETs, related work is summarized and presented. Secondly, the Dempster-Shafer (D-S) Evidence Theory is analyzed and related formulae are discussed. Thirdly, the authors give their method based on the D-S theory to analyze success ratio in routing data package among nodes and malicious nodes influence on the ratio.
