Diversity and transmission rate are the main performance metrics for MIMO techniques. The authors propose a low-complexity MIMO scheme that achieves both Full Diversity and Full Rate (FDFR) over flat fading channels when there is a sufficiently many number of transmit and receive antennas. The proposed scheme uses Energy Spreading Transforms (EST's) to spread symbol energy to multiple transmit antennas and makes iterative decision-feedback detection possible at the receiver. Simulations results show that the proposed scheme performs close to the (interference-free) genie-aided system when there is sufficiently large number of transmit and receive antennas.
