Active Queue Management for Multimedia Streaming in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks
This paper is to propose a congestion avoidance mechanism for multimedia streaming in mobile ad-hoc networks. The major challenge in delivering multimedia content over mobile ad-hoc network is, its need for higher bandwidth and its sensitivity to packet losses. Therefore to provide better Quality of Service (QoS) for video applications, UDPLite in transport layer along with Video Significance Information based Random Early Detection (SiVIRED) an Active Queue Management (AQM) mechanism in network layer has been implemented to achieve a reduction in delay and jitter and increase in Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). This Proposed method achieves 16% improvement in reduction of delay and 13% improvement in PSNR as compared to the conventional methods.
